Caliper edition programme

The Jagged chair is derived from traditional Brazilian hardwood seating, adapted to suit a more industrial aluminium materiality, aiming to revive these forms in a more contemporary and brutal way.
The vehicle of the Editions Programme has made for a fascinating journey in design and production alongside Caliper, with
Tom and Quinner bonding over manufacturing and the processes involved in shaping materials.
The collaboration has introduced Tom to the process of sand casting, a process which he previously hasn’t worked with.
The process draws parallels to the intrinsic characteristics of aluminium, with the mold and sand material also being re-used, in the same way aluminium can be recycled ad infinitum without downcycling.
The entire chair has been made in Spain; the aluminium in the North Basque region and the leather seat and finishing hardware in Madrid, before being assembled and packed at the Caliper studio.
